The Great Glen Way – Day Four

Day 4 – 16th July

First of all – apologies for the mixed up order of The Great Glen Way posts – I can’t seem to change the order!

Today’s jaunt is from South Laggan to Invermoriston – 18.5m /30km. Another full English (or should that be Scottish) breakfast and we head off once more. The journey is going to take us along the length of Loch Oich up to Fort Augustus where we hope to stop for beer and a sandwich. Here are a couple of shots of the Loch.

The weather is pleasant enough and it looks like we’ll get lucky and not get drowned today. We come across a teashop and I stock up on whisky flavoured fudge and take a shot of Dave relaxing:

Loch Oich eventually gives way to the River Oich and eventually another stretch of the Caledonian Canal for the march into Fort Augustus. Here you can see a couple of shots of the canal…

We stop for an hour or so in Fort Augustus for some snacks and a quick look around the town. I buy some sweets from a wonderfully old fashioned sweet shop – and the gang sets off again for the final leg into Drumnadrochit. Here is a shot of Mick, John and myself having a breather.

And a couple of scenic shots….

Finally, we reach our destination which is the Bracarina Guesthouse. This is handily next door to the Glen Moriston Hotel where we eat and drink grandly.

Tomorrow it is Invermoriston to Drumnadrochit!
