Digital Photography Tip No.3 – Using Flash in Daylight

Use Your Flash in Daylight

Your flash is not just for night/low light situations.

Although it seems counterintuitive – using your flash in daylight can really improve your pictures. This is particularly the case when your subject is brightly backlit eg where the sun is directly behind. Use your flash on fill setting to lighten harsh shadows to produce a much more pleasing image.

An additional benefit – is that as the sun lies behind the subject – you avoid the problem of the subject squinting to shade their eyes.

Happy shooting!
